Lead Sample Technician
This course is for individuals seeking to perform lead sampling activities. In California, Title 17 regulations require you to become certified through California Department of Public Health (CDPH). This course is the first step in the certification process.
Description
The Lead Sampling Technician Initial course provides students with the basic information they need to perform lead sampling under the direction of a certified Inspector/Assessor in California.
This course covers a background on health risks of lead; how to conduct a visual assessment and visual examination; how to collect dust wipe, paint chip, and soil samples plus an overview of how to use an XRF analyzer.
The course includes lecture, workshops, hands on exercises and a exam.

Lead Sample Technician Course Agenda
Upon completion of your training, you will need to apply to California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for certification via online application and include the following:
- Online Application https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CCDPHP/DEODC/CLPPB/Pages/LRCcertprocess.aspx
- Proof of Training, via the CDPH Course Completion and Photo (digital)
- Pay the Fee – $135.00
- Your certification must be renewed annually.
- Every other year you are required to attend a 7-hour General Continuing Education (refresher) class before you can renew your certification.
- If it has been more than 1 year since you completed your CDPH-approved training, you must take 7 hours of CDPH-approved Continuing Education before applying for certification.
- If it has been more than 3 years since you completed your CDPH-approved training, you must take the full course over again before applying for certification.
