CDPH Lead Inspector/Assessor (Split Session)
This course provides information for those individuals who wish to perform lead-based paint inspections, risk assessments, and/or post-abatement clearance services. This class will prepare students to perform on-site inspection, take samples, determine the severity of lead hazards, and develop options for eliminating those hazards.
Description
The inspector/assessor course prepares you to apply your knowledge to the field, with extensive hands-on training and real-world examples from experienced instructors.
This course covers background information about lead, including health effects of lead exposure. It provides information on how to conduct a lead paint inspection, how to safely use an XRF instrument, how to sample for lead in various media (dust, soil, paint, etc.), how to conduct a risk assessment, clearance inspections and how to prepare a report.

The course includes lecture, workshops, hands on exercises and an exam.

This course is the first step in getting certified through California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Upon completion of the training, you will need to apply to CDPH for certification.
Effective July 1, 2020 – California Department of Public Health has implemented a mandatory $36 processing fee per student for lead courses in California. This is included in course fee.
