Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor
The Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor class is for individuals interested in supervising asbestos abatement projects.
Description
Passing this 40-hour course allows you to supervise the removal of asbestos for demolition and renovation projects as an AHERA accredited Contractor Supervisor.
The EPA and OSHA require this accreditation if you ever supervise the removal of asbestos-containing materials that fill more than one glove bag or waste container.
You learn how to safely remove asbestos products using the most up-to-date methods and equipment. You strengthen your understanding of safety issues, regulations, protocols, and practices that protect workers’ health. Class will consist of a combination of lecture, video, demonstration, group exercise, and individual exercises and assessment.
With the guidance of experienced asbestos professional, you practice:
- setting up containments
- taking air samples
- using HEPA vacuums, glove bags, and other safety equipment
You are prepared to supervise the work yourself, or to interact successfully with contractors, industrial hygienists, and consultants who plan and perform the work.
This course is one of the Cal-OSHA requirements for Certified Asbestos Consultants and Site Surveillance Technicians.
