EPA-Accredited Lead (except RRP)

EPA requires individuals and firms who perform abatement activities in pre-1978 target housing and child-occupied facilities to be certified and follow specific work practices.  Abatement activities include abatement, lead inspections and risk assessments.

If you are looking to become an EPA certified renovator, please go to EPA Lead Renovator Training (RRP). Click here for more information.

Each course description will have information on the requirements for becoming EPA certified.

Please note that you are EPA certified for a period of 6 months after you take the course, during which time you are required to apply to EPA for formal certification.  Once you receive your formal EPA certification, you will have to take a refresher course and renew your certification every 3 years.

EPA requires firms (companies) that offer lead abatement activities also become certified.  For more information on being an EPA certified firm, visit this link: Lead-Based Paint Abatement and Evaluation Program: Firm Certification | US EPA

This training is valid in states administered by EPA, which are Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming.  All other states, have their own lead program so you will have to check those state requirements.
