EPA Lead Inspector

The Lead Inspector training is for individuals seeking to perform lead-based paint inspections and/or clearance examinations on abatement and renovation projects. Individuals will learn to determine if lead-based paint is present.

Description

This course covers background information about lead, including health effects of lead exposure. It provides information on how to conduct a lead paint inspection, how to safely use an XRF instrument, how to sample for lead in various media (dust, soil, paint, etc.), clearance inspections and how to prepare a report.

YOU ARE INTERIM CERTIFIED FOR 6 MONTHS UPON COMPLETING YOUR TRAINING COURSE. 


You must complete the application process, including the third party exam within six months after completing your course - in other words, before the expiration date of your interim certification. Submit your application for certification to EPA within 30 days of completing your initial training course so that you have plenty of time to take the third party exam and ensure that your application is complete before your interim certification expires. If you do not pass the exam within six months, your interim certification will expire and you will no longer be able to work.
