The Lead Risk Assessor training is for individuals seeking to perform lead-based paint hazard evaluation services, including risk assessments and lead hazard screens. This class will prepare students to perform on-site inspection, take samples, determine the severity of lead hazards, and develop lead hazard control plans.
Description
The Risk Assessor training is for individuals seeking to perform lead-based hazard evaluations, including risk assessment, lead hazard screens, and EBL investigations. Individuals will learn to determine if lead-based paint hazards are present and determine options to control those hazards.

- Roles and Responsibilities of Risk Assessor
- Visual inspections
- Identifying Potential Sources of Lead-Based Paint Hazards
- Sampling for Dust, Soil, Paint and Water
- Lead Hazard Screen Protocol
- Procedures for conducting Risk Assessment for Multifamily Properties
- Development of Hazard Control Options
- Performing Risk Assessments for Housing with Children with EBLs
- Preparation of Final Risk Assessment Report
The course includes lecture, workshops, hands on exercises and an exam.

YOU ARE INTERIM CERTIFIED FOR 6 MONTHS UPON COMPLETING YOUR TRAINING COURSE.
You must complete the application process, including the third party exam (if required for your discipline) within six months after completing your course - in other words, before the expiration date of your interim certification. Submit your application for certification to EPA within 30 days of completing your initial training course so that you have plenty of time to take the third party exam and ensure that your application is complete before your interim certification expires. If you do not pass the exam within six months, your interim certification will expire and you will no longer be able to work.
