EPA Lead Training

Your training course is only ONE step in becoming EPA-certfied!

Steps for Contractors to comply with EPA RRP Requirements:
EPA requires both your firm and an individual get certified.  The following steps can be done in either order, although EPA takes time to process your firm application.
1.  Become an EPA-certified firm. The application can be found on EPA's website www.epa.gov/lead
2.  Take an RRP course. Your training certificate serves as your EPA individual certification. You will not have to send anything to EPA.
3.    Every 5 years both your individual and firm certification need renewal. You will need a refresher course prior to your expiration. 

Steps for individuals and firms that conduct lead activities (inspections, risk assessments and abatement):
EPA requires both firm and individual certifications.
1.  Become an EPA-certified firm. The application can be found on EPA's website www.epa.gov/lead
2.  Take the appropriate training course. Your training certificate serves as a 6-month interim EPA certification. During this time, you will need to apply to EPA for formal certifcation.  A third party exam will be part of the certification process.
3.    Every 3 years both your individual and firm certification need renewal. You will need a refresher course prior to your expiration. 

EPA Renovation, Repair, and Remodeling (RRP) - $175 This 1-day course meets the requirements of EPA for contractors that disturb lead paint during the course of normal renovation activities
EPA Lead Inspector - $535 This 3-day course is designed to train individuals on identifying lead-based paint and post abatement clearance procedures. This course qualifies students for EPA certification as Lead Inspector and prepares student for EPA Certification Exam.
EPA Lead Risk Assessor - $360 (Prerequisite: Lead Inspector)  This 2-day course trains students to identify lead paint hazards and offer solutions to control those hazards based on HUD devised methods for Lead based paint risk assessments. This course qualifies students for EPA certification as Risk Assessor and prepares student for EPA Certification Exam.

EPA Lead Worker - $390
EPA Lead Inspector and Risk Assessor Refreshers - $185 These 1-day classes concentrate on a review of lead evaluation (inspection/risk assessment) practices, regulatory updates, and new developments of state-of-the-art technology.
EPA Lead Worker and Supervisor Refreshers - $185 These 1-day classes concentrate on a review of abatement practices, regulatory updates, and new developments of state-of-the-art technology.
